• The gate jerks or stutters partway through travel. When a worn fabricated pivot or cracked bracket catches and releases under load, the operator’s control board corrects voltage, then jerks forward. Homeowners describe it as a “flinch” in the gate, and it is almost always mechanical wear, not an electronics issue.
• Rust stains bleeding from a weld or bolt head. In Irvine’s coastal air, unprotected welds and hardware rust within a few seasons. The red-orange run-off is what water does when it has found an entry point into bare steel. Once that starts, the part is on a clock.
